Immortal, invisible |
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, your great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Not wanting, not wasting, you rule all in might;
Your justice like mountains high soaring above
Your clouds are like fountains of goodness and love.
To all life you've given--to both great and small;
In all life you're living, the true life of all;
Yet you are unchanging, for you no times pass,
But we grow, then wither like leaves of the grass.
Great Godhead of Glory, pure Godhead of Light,
Your angels adore you, all veiling their sight;
All praise we would give you: O help us to know
That only the splendor of Light hides you so.
